0.35oz cuben

Thu 09 Apr, 2015 10:13 pm

Had some of this to play with, and made a few dry bags. It is noticeably more fragile than the 0.5 oz fabric, and ripped quite easily. I concluded, as Joe from Z packs suggested, that 0.5 was fine for a tarp, 0.75 as better for dry bags, and that 0.35 might be useable for very light tarp applications.

It sits, whilst I plan something worthwhile from it!

Emergency tarp perhaps?
I see Simon doesn't list Cuben any longer on the TierGear website

Cubic Tech got bought out by Dyneema DSM, and whilst I have not enquired myself recently, I have been informed by another US supplier that the price of Cuben has risen considerably, making it unlikely I will stock it anytime soon. I have seen it retail for $21 per half yard in the US lately.

I thought it had gone up.

I just got the new prices for Cuben from Dyneema DSM/Cubic Tech and they have not really gone up if you buy in larger quantities.

If you buy through a online vendor who buys in bulk the price has gone up a little.
If buying smaller diy length's from the source its almost doubled in price.
The low Aussie doesn't help either...

So can anyone recommend where to buy cuben? I want to make some stuff sacks and generally have a play around with it. So not after a huge amount.
