Can anybody help me please identify this little critter

That'd be a Ringtail possum.

I would imagine it is a Psuedocheirus peregrinus, more commonly known as a Ring Tail Possum.

Cheers
Roger

Thanks Roger and Baeng 72.
I youtubed ringtail and it definately was one.
I don't recall seeing one before especially in the middle of the day with all the possums I have seen are brushtails which are a lot bigger and generally up a tree and at night time.
Perhaps it was a younger one being pretty small and was very disoriented in the daylight.

Update on the Frogmouth nest near our back door, from 12/Oct.

Frogmouth was seen two days ago sitting beside the nest in warm weather rather than on it. This suggests growing babies filling the nest - good.

Very bad weather yesterday, causing us some concern for the nest. However, it was mainly icy rain rather than strong wind. We noticed the male hunched over the nest, sheltering the babies with his slightly outstretched wings. Rather cold and drizzling: tough guy.

Today was almost sunny this pm. My wife Sue was checking on the nest from a safe distance, and a small Frogmouth head popped up over the edge of the nest and looked at her. Yeah!

Cheers
Roger

Frogmouths: Papa is sitting on the adjacent branch again, rather than on the nest, and what looks like two small fluff-balls are sitting beside him.

Magpies: 3 babies this year. They have reached the stage of being (mostly) able to feed themselves - to the immense joy of the harassed parents. But being immature juveniles, they spend half their time chasing each other around, wrestling on the ground with each other, and generally being, well, juvenile.

Brush Turkey: male was seen strutting up and down on top of the mound, while the female was busy digging a hole in the middle of the mound. They mostly ignore us.

Cheers

Our Frogmouth

Very bad weather the last few days: icy rain and icy wind. Papa was seen hunched over the nest, grimly protecting his kids. Tough!
Today the weather is fine.

And Papa is out on the adjacent branch with his TWO babies beside him! The one on the right is obvious; the one on the left is partly under his wing. Nest to the right.

Grainy photo, poor focus, bright background. Tricky, and I did not want to spend a lot of time on it for fear of worrying Papa. Birds can tell when you are looking at them, and don't like it.
Why out of the nest? Because by the time the babies are fledged, the nest is has become a bit smelly and is infested with insect pests.

Cheers
Roger

4th: Two babies and Papa a little way from the nest - which gets infested with tiny pests.
5th: Two babies and papa further along the branch away from the nest and pests.
6th: Babies and Papa on a different branch, away from pests. How did they get there? Jump, or flap madly? Still very fluffy.
7th: All gone! Flown away! Doubtless parents will still be feeding them for several weeks, but I know not where.

Cheers

Back when the Jurassic was new, I went for a school-camp at Cape Bridgewater. Lovely area. Only question, where are the seals?

a) it was high tide;
b) there are limits to the long-range photographic capabilities of an iPhone5; and
c) we could still smell them.

That said, the clearer photos are from my iPhone5 and the lesser quality roo pics are from my friend's iPhone6.

I apologize. I should've said 'Did you see seals?' or something.

Crikey no apology necessary!!

If I’m taking visitors up there, I always time it with low tide so the rock shelves are exposed and there will be lots of seals. It’s a fantastic spot.

I saw this little guy twice this week in my front yard - a yellow-faced whipsnake. Gave it a wide berth and left it to get on with its business of hunting skinks.

I saw a dead kangaroo today, not unusual in itself but this one was by the side of the road in a very heavy industrial area in North Shore Geelong, just near the super phosphate factory and wharfs.
Must have got lost or perhaps chased by feral dogs of which there are a few around here

Mt Bogong. For some reason when I saw it from Tawonga Gap, the Murderhorn from a Simpson's episode popped in my head and wouldn't pop out.

Seen near top of Mt Bogong (official name Murderhorn).

Some weird insect, I first thought it was a geographically challenged chameleon (I was clearly delirious at this point).

Insect of some description.

Not unusual, but there were so many plump Skinks on the rocks of the path, I thought they deserved a participation award.

Your weird insect is a grasshopper. This one is a commonly seen species in the alpine and sub-alpine zones. The females are typically considerably larger than the males.
The shiny green thing is a christmas beetle. You can get masses of them in early summer.

A Green Tree snake (one of my favourite snakes) sunning itself next to the Georges River this morning even though it was very overcast. The photo does not do justice to how green it was. Not the first time I have encountered one these beauties along the river. It was totally chilled and just kept watching me whilst I grabbed some shots.

Unreal shot Michael. Used to see plenty of them back in the day, some big individuals too. Haven’t crossed one for years though?
