Plant I.D. ?

Just returned from a moooch along the Boonoo Boonoo river valley behind Stanthorpe,
granite slabs were lovely & warm to lie on, tannin coloured water running clear,
the volcanic Basalt Dyke marked on the map was located, edible prickly pears were fruiting & this strange bright yellow coloured fruit
caught my eye...native passionfruit ? native cucumber ?....any ideas ?

Looks like a paddy melon to me.

EDIT: Was it growing on a wiry green prostrate plant?

The stem & leaves were dry & withered so i couldn't really tell if it was a vine
or prostrate plant. Thanks whitefang.

It looks like a yellow rambutan but I doubt a tropical fruit tree would survive up there.

I think i may have tracked it down.
