Bushwalking Fashions: Photos Requested

PG 1980s.jpg
Hi all - a friend is working on a project for Tas Parks & Wildlife. It's going to include "a fashion spread on bushwalking over the years".

What she's after are old photos of full-body shots of bushwalkers, roughly in the following periods: 1950s, 1970s, 1990s. If you can help. please PM me and I'll pass your details on.

But feel free to post images here too, just for the fun of it. 8) The example above is me in the 1980s. For some reason she doesn't want this one!

cheers

What a cracker!

Interesting hip belt design. Looks comfy! What pack is that?

Ahh - that's a Karrimor Jaguar VI, circa 1983. It was my first post H-frame pack. I had never dreamed of such comfort! It's still in my loft-of-possibly-useful-gear (whereas my old Roman H-frame is in the garage).

cheers

I can certainly help out with some oldies. Here's two from December 1971 for a start.

Some great pix there Ian! Would my friend be able to use any of these, with an appropriate credit? PM me with any contact details so I can get her to negotiate with you or others on this,

cheers

Haha, these are great! :) some of the fashions are almost back, coal caps, beards.. otherwise not far from the ubiquitous, slightly dorky walker look :D
Need some of stubbies and stripy thermals era.. colourful hawaiian nylons of the 80's... or those ridiculously itchy wool western 'shirts' everyone seemed to have at one stage.

You'd have to think how thankful those from just after WW2 were to be back home, safe in their mountains.

Hey whynotwalk :)

This came up on my Facebook page this morning and I thought you might be interested. There are some great images from the 1950s on the Overland Track here. Take a look! http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/ ... -the-1950s

Thanks FootTrack - they're great, aren't they?! Christina has already been in touch with Parks about these. Gold!

cheers
