Sounds magic!
Have fun and god luck of course!.. and be safe! -but it sounds like you've got that covered.
Family is the most improtant thing - I'm sure it'll be a lifelong memory for both of you!
.... very kind of you to take the effort of sharing it with others.

Walking with your kids in the bush is one of the best things you can do for them. We have walked the overland track as a family seceral times and loved it. I dont believe age in itself is a barrier. A lot depends on how prepared you are and on the mindset of the child. The most recent time we walked the Overland track my youngest was aged 4. He managed the whole thing under his own steam (without a backpack). The day he climbed Mt Ossa was memorable -- in the mist and rain. I must say that I had to get used to walking slowly and reciting lots of nursery rhymes. !

I have been inspired,

I think my 7 year old would love the idea of trekking with dad in the tassie plateau.

Geoff, saw from your link that you've finished your walk - I'm sure you're glad you did it and looking forward to hearing how it all went.
We'll get fit on the way.

Hi everyone,

We had a great walk with many highlights. Daniel did amazingly well and stepped up (both literately and figuratively). We had a few challenges leading up to the walk with some health issues but out on the track we had a ball. It was a truly wonderful experience for the three generations to do this sort of thing together. We found those we met wonderful and encouraging. I'd forgotten just how many people you meet and how significant some of those can be as you share a journey together - so thanks.

I'm working on a video of our trip now which should be complete in the next few days and I'll post it here for you to see a bit about the trip and get to meet us in a different way.

We ended up skipping Cradle Mountain because of the weather but managed to climb Barn Bluff, Mt Oakleigh and Mt Ossa which were definitely the highlights of the trip. We had the usual changing Tasmania weather which was from sunny hot and high UV days (climbing Barn Bluff) to snow down to 800m when we went over Du Cane Gap and stayed at Bert Nichols.

I'd highly recommend this for families considering the trip. Not only did we experience some great walking but I saw my son grow and get more confidence and our relationship has become deeper. He's already talking about our next yearly big adventure could be.

That's wonderful, I can imagine how good the 3 Gen thing must have been too, was it good to have your dad along? I'm quite envious, I would love to have shared an experience like that with mine.
We'll get fit on the way.
