Early Days For ex Scouts

Postby corvus » Mon 24 Nov, 2014 7:52 pm

Just came across my 1963 Diary with the entry on 06/07/ 1963 (born 1947) was my birthday and it was the the day after the commencement of my Ventures Hike (for my Queens Scout Badge) this hike from memory was harder than needed as my partner on the Hike had let up on his share of food ,so I had to share ,nevertheless we survived .
Our examiner had set out a course that had ups and downs of brae walking ,no trees as in Aus just Heather up to our Kilts ,yes we did this hike in heavy woolen kilts and crap Anoraks and in fact at the end of the walk I was dyed red on the skin from cheap lining of said Anorak
Stage two, wet and smelly and late, I as a good Scout arrived with a smile to meet my now Wife of 46 years who still welcomes me back wet and smelly from my walks how lucky can you be eh!! :D

Lovely story! Especially about the wife still meeting you after 46 years of dirty smelly walking :)
