Sure. Been watching them every now and then.

69km to go according to the website. Who is the Norwegian? That would be really annoying.

Aleksander Gamme, a veteran of several crossings of greenland. he left a day earlier but he was able to consistently log more miles per day than the aussies, he didnt report that he was having much in the way of problems as the ausses of injuries and sheer exhaustion. maybe the fact that he's been manhauling sledges for a lot longer may have been a factor in his better performance..

Mission accomplished!

26 January 2012, at 1.05 pm (Chilean time) Cas and Jonesy completed their world first expedition. They have now become the first people to ski unsupported from the edge of the Antarctic to the South Pole and back. The expedition took 89 days and covered a total distance of just over 2,270 km!

They will be sending through pictures, videos and a podcast soon. Watch this space!

Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement!

Quite mysterious that they say they are the first. Are we missing some nuance of their claim, or do they just not know about Gamme? Seems unlikely...

oh yeah they know about gamme, they flew down with him on the same plane,,, but some of their food was left behind and they ahd to wait a day for it to be flown down before they could start,,,
i think they ran into him on his way back from the pole. or they ran into a guy running from pole to pole... (big season for firsts)
gamme stopped a k short of the finish to wait for cas and jonesy to walk the last k with them. so looks like they are all doing it first..... anyway a nicer ending than scott....
i asw a photo of their sleds. gamme has ski's on his and it has more ground clearance... cas and jonesy just have raised ridges on their sleds with a strip over it probably like a skin....

A great act of sportsmanship by Gamme. I attended Cas and Jonesy's presentation on the trip at the Boat Show in Sydney yesterday. Very entertaining and inspiring.
