ticklebelly covers a day trip Neglected Mt here....viewtopic.php?f=48&t=9418

Sad sounding name.....but some really great views along this ridgeline walk to the east & to the west.

If overnighting, an afternoon start is the go, warm day temps soon plummet & a cool mountain breeze make the strenuous walk up a little more bearable.
Theres old lemon tree full of fruit & a picnic table at the shack, maybe added to your tea...or squeezed over pancakes & sugar...during a brief rest stop on the return leg :)

For the photographers out there.....You'll catch the setting suns rays on Buchanans Fort & the Christmas Creek valley, on the eastern side of the ridge as you climb relentlessly upwards in the afternoon.
In the morning the rising sun will light up the western slopes misty filled valleys all the the way to Mt Maroon & Barny.
The summit is surrounded by trees & they block out most of the views....but that really doesn't matter....the ridgeline walk is a doozy. :D

I camped at the first grassy flat spot overnight, gazed at stars & watched the flashing coloured aircraft lights jet across the clear night sky.
Could even see O'reilly's all lit up in the distance.
In the morning I left my hammock & pack there while I meandered my way to the summit in the clearing mist.
There's is another grassy flat area just below the summit. Plenty of scope for tents & hammocks in both flat areas.

There's some knee high length grassy sections, where you can't see your feet or snakes, so I'd advise gaitors.
Zig Zag on the steep bits, your calves will thank you...
