Mt Maroon

Finishing the mowing & whippersnipper duties by lunchtime, I quickly grabbed a foil pouch of salmon, some udon noodles & half a pkt
of tim tams from the cupboard, chucked my pack in the back of the ute & headed for Mt Maroon.

The mountain is calling......access is through the steep gorge on the left of pic.



Gaining ground....



What a sight for sore legs, last rays of the day....better drop off the summit & find some trees !



Ooooh the calories....moreish tim tams.



Morning sunrise, the best I could do, the summit was shrouded in swirling mist.

Breakie on the boil...noodles, salmon & lashings of pepper. Warmth on a cold & windy morning.




Times up....time to head back down to civilization.



Great weekend....2 awesome peaks climbed with great views.

Makes me want to get back in the bush thanks , my last trip spent freezing waiting for the sun to rise over the clouds like a heater when it does....

Nice...I've seen Maroon from Barney, but I'm yet to see Barney from Maroon.

By the way, have you posted your thoughts on the Tarseer anywhere?

Not yet Picaro...we're still getting aquainted.

Have to make a tarp & under cover to suit, the asym tarp i have is not giving me enough coverage....goodies & material are waiting at the post office to be picked up.
Let the experimentation begin !

Climbed Maroon yesterday noticed the steep part before the saddle had most of the loose scree washed or trampled down from last time alot safer for people below not having to watch for dislodged rocks coming down ,we had a great time ,so did many others as being long week end there was around a dozen cars on the return...

Yes, its a popular spot on the w/ends, darrin...but well worth the scramble up through the steep gulley for the views from the summit. Glad you had a good time.

The summit is quite eerie in the mist, with all the grass trees, a great spot.

Yesterday would have been a perfect day for it, and it looks like it was, nice one!

Another fine trip ofuros and another one to put on my list. I'll have to make sure I don't forget the tim tams!

An oldie but a goodie...Almost a year ago to the day.

Nice going Picaro & phan_Tom,
It's a short, steep, serpentine climb up through the gulley,
and your aching thighs are soon forgotten once you take in the views from the summit.
