"Controversial hiker's accommodation will be built in a Kangaroo Island (KI) national park after a court case was resolved with compromise, but the State Government has been accused of shifting the goalposts to leave opponents little choice.

"Clusters of two-person accommodation pods inaccessible to road vehicles will be constructed inside Flinders Chase National Park after it was agreed to build them adjacent the KI Wilderness Trail rather than two kilometres away near Sandy Beach."

This is the latest of many places to fall to development. Overland Track, South Coast Track, Two Capes, Grampians, Otways, more. These small, relatively insignificant moves will slowly add up until one day the wild places are gone.

I thought the court case had been postponed until around July/August?

So I'm assuming the "pods" will be between the trail and the ocean, with the best views? Otherwise they may find some hikers deciding to have a lunch stop right in the middle of their view.....

Last week's newsletter from Eco Action states they will provide further information next (this) week as to the need for them to go down this particular path.

Also states "the fight is not over!" Whilst there are echoes of Trump it's something I'm glad to hear in this instance.
