SEQLD huts to hike to

Postby DanielYeshuaBethel » Wed 08 Jun, 2022 10:55 am

I used to hike to a few fire towers and go to Harry's Hut. Are there any public access huts that can be hiked to?

I don't think that there are any fire tower huts nowadays

I think it was 1975. The hut on Mt.Barney was finally removed.
The waste problem was one of the main motivators for its' removal.
Also, the general feeling is that SEQ does not have the climate that warrants huts in the bush.
I for one, feel relieved that we don't have huts in SEQ. I've watched over the last twenty years or more, the growing infatuation that many people exhibit with huts in NZ.
There are many people who have as their principle reason for going bush, a program of hut bagging.
Ever on the search for a one ended stick.
