Hi all

Looking to do the hike from Teviot Creek up to Superbus and across to the Steamers via Mt Roberts Lizard Point (camping overnight at Lizard) next month.

Just after any recent track reports on the walk, and also any advice previous hikers might have about the track.

Also, given its September, what are the concerns around snakes on a hike like this?

We will be bringing a PLB/first aid kit, but in the event that the worst happens (good to be prepared) how difficult would it be to get rescued out of that area in a chopper? (Say, for a snakebite).

Teviot gap to Superbus saddle, steep, slippery and with some mild difficulty navigating in the rain forest lower down. After that fairly easy all the way to stern lookout (all rainforest from Teviot to Lizard pt.). Track easy to follow with some exposure between Lizard Point and Mt. Steamer, on the ridge. There is an excellent campsite just east of stern lookout on the top of the knifeblade ridge, tho not sure if you can camp there. Otherwise Steamer Saddle has a good spot (and water) and south of Lizard Pt in the forest there is another sheltered place but small. Please don't camp at Lizard point, I know everyone does, but the place is getting wrecked from large numbers. Few weeks ago I walked past it and I noticed at least 4 tents pitched at the lookout.
RE: snakes. Same as any other part of SEQ.

Sounds like the trickiest bit is the first ascent.

We went out to Lizard Pt two weeks ago. The effort is in the first ascent but it is currently anything but tricky. It is taped all the way. It deviates a little from the original route. We didn't see any snakes that day at all.

Been just over a year since I did it, but if going counter clockwise the water fall on the way up is the best spot for water. The one from camp sees you going some 800-900m, one way, for a semi-reliable spot.

Clockwise, grab water before you leave the creek.
