Queensland Australia Day topic

On 2 February 2020 a topic was posted by a new starter. The topic was about an incident in a Queensland state forest, where there was a dispute on the access road, which the OP said was the only way in and out by vehicle. A landowner prevented the OP from leaving, and things became somewhat heated, with an alleged intentional ramming of the OP's car by the landowner. The OP's girlfriend was then allegedly assaulted.

Two more vehicles then allegedly blocked the OP and prevented him from leaving. The OP said that police were called and did nothing.

The OP made a statement and later attempted to have the matter dealt with by the police, allegedly to no avail. The OP was justifiably upset.

A few points. I am unfamiliar with Queensland law, but laws across all Australian jurisdictions tend to be similar. If the alleged events took place then the people who blocked the OP's car, damaged the car and assaulted his girlfriend have a case to answer, very clear cut in my view. If the local police will not take action then there are further ways of seeking justice and review. Remedies exist at law.

As the location was not cited, subsequent posts requested this. The OP did not provide the location. One person said that all Queensland state parks have more than one access road. One person suggested that the OP was on private land.

The replies were helpful, but the OP was rude, and this was reported to moderators. I waited a while before doing anything as I wanted to to give the OP a reasonable time to reply. There has been no reply.

This afternoon somebody said:
"Surely this topic has run its course. (The OP) seems unlikely to contribute anything worthwhile, and diminishes the quality of the forum. Yes I do understand I don't have to read it, but as a very long term member I am sad to see such a vitriolic poster unchallenged by moderators."

The topic has been removed and I have posted the above explanation. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Your explanation seems like a rational response.

But there was some unintended and intended humour to be enjoyed in the now deceased commentary/slanging match. I especially liked the reference to an easement beside the (was it Brisbane?) airport runway.

Fair call, Lophophaps. I lurked on this forum for years before signing up and it's always been very well mannered. I'm sure it will remain so! Thanks again to everyone who shares their extensive knowledge.

Cheers

The airport reference is as follows:
Brisbane Airport has an easement that runs beside the main runway to allow the BCC to access the sewage lines, but I'd recommend against walking it unless you plan on getting arrested, even if you stick to the dirt track and close all the gates behind you.
