Walk Camp sites in Toolangi State Forest

Hey Everyone,

I'm going to spend some time exploring Toolangi state forest when restrictions end (fingers crossed we'll be good to go early November)
Does anyone have any suggestions on some nice trails I can pop off and set up a tent for a night?

There are some nice ones. As for tent sites, there are plenty along the Murrundindi River but they are for a fee.

I've car-camped at Water-gauge camp near Wilhelmina falls and done the walk up to the falls.
I'm not aware of walk-in camping in that area (Murrundindi scenic reserve).
It seems more setup for family camps and trail bikers looking for a base.

Probably only one could be considered walk in but only across a bridge over the Murrundindi and another 100 metres.
That one is the Cassinia Camp and at least you don't have to contend with cars driving around.

I'm hoping to camp somewhere near the river but away from the public camp sites. I was happy to trudge off track for a while to get to a flat clearing.

I'm going to head up and explore for some day walks with the family before hand to explore first. I'll be sure to check out those tracks and sites.

The options are fairly limited in that area as the Yarra Ranges National Park just South has no camping
at all and the rest are too public, i would go further out to the Cathedral Ranges as its a lot more of an
interesting area as well. Mt St Leonards is 1010 metres which is nine metres higher than Mt Macedon.
