Thinking of doing the Mt Clear circuit in the next few weeks and was wondering how reliable the water source(s) is/are around the saddle NNE of the Mt Clear summit.

On the SV Map there is a spring marked about 600m WNW of where the AAWT passes through the saddle. Is it generally the case that water is always available there?

Would appreciate any reports from anyone who has passed through the area in the last few weeks.

Just in case anyone is thinking of doing this walk soon (and to answer my own question), I was up there yesterday and I could not find a viable water source.

After scaring a deer away I managed to find a small puddle that I could suck water up from. No doubt the deer was sucking on the same puddle. Pretty sure I was at the water source marked on the SV Map.

Great area, but perhaps better suited as a spring walk rather than a hot late summer one.
