This is a very brief news story and does not state the reason in detail. Maybe the direction Parks will take now will be different. This man was very much into turning Parks over to commercial interests. Perhaps that is where the unacceptable conduct in relation to integrity lies.

Interesting...I wonder what the 'unacceptable conduct' was? Hopefully this will mean a reduced emphasis on the commercialisation of parks!

Wow - he lasted just over a year. I hope that further and better particulars emerge. I wonder if he was the driving force behind the Falls-Hotham walk.

My thoughts exactly. Must be serious if it has been referred to the anti-corruption people instead of the golden handshake.

It just goes to show, never trust a man wearing a suit in the outdoors. Look forward to further details.

That geezer was keen on paving paradise and putting up a parking lot. I could smell him as dodgy from day one. To quote Fellow Maple leafers, Bob and Doug Mackenzie, " Take off ! to the great white North".

Interesting. I was talking to a Victorian couple on the weekend and they mentioned they had concerns about the direction of Parks Vic.

PV needs a lot more funding and a local in charge who knows the parks first hand and the people and/or user groups who frequent them.

Good point. Then there's a chance of or hope of affinity with what the parks mean to Victorians.

Andrew Fairley, Chairman of Parks Victoria has announced that Matthew Jackson will be the new Chief Executive of Parks Victoria.

Mr Jackson was the Chief Executive Officer at Phillip Island Nature Parks for the past six years and prior to that held other senior roles within that organisation. He has also had experience in the private sector in marketing and distribution.

“Mr Jackson was appointed after an international search that drew an outstanding response,” said Mr Fairley.

“He has extensive experience in environmental research, conservation, education, wildlife management, operational management and stakeholder relations.

Mr Jackson has overseen strong and continued growth in research, conservation programs and visitor numbers and engagement during his time Phillip Island Nature Parks.
He is expected to commence in mid-February 2017.

After the last head was moved on, it's hardly surprising that the replacement is a local. Of course this may make no difference to performance given that recent governments of all persuasions have significantly cut funding.

There are four vacancies to be filled on the PV board this year - perhaps someone knows someone who is qualified and interested?
