Weird.
Apart from what a few people here have said, I know others who did this just a couple of weeks after I did and had all sorts of issues with scrub, yet I found a line through without any trouble. My only real hassle was all the fallen timber on the route.
From Lake Cobbler, up the road and then down to the King River, up Koonika and over to Speculation to camp on the Saturday night. A long day, but only because of the timber. Then a leisurely wander around for the sunrise on Spec, back down the road to the walking track, over to Mt Cobbler, a massive tree climb back to the car, and then a quiet little toddle down to the falls and back on the Sunday. Without all the fallen trees, that circuit is an easy two dayer.

Just back from King hut - Koonika_ Speculation - King hut....
The first 5 km from King hut requires some route finding (but just stick to the top of the spur) and plenty of shrub bashing....the wattle is quite thick in places. The track(s) a mostly visible but then again, easily lost here and there too! Up to the first descent after the long climb towards Koonika its slow going, once on the ridge leading to Koonika the track is ok to follow and fairly clear.... The climb up Koonika is great and the views rewarding.... Koonika to Speculation is fairly clear, but the track is still easily lost in places but easily found again too (stick to the ridge). We camped bang on top of speculation, with both Sat and Sun being glorious days!!!! If only Parks would spend as much on hiking tracks as 4wd tracks!!!!
