Water quality at Wilsons Prom in April

Postby bobbydee » Tue 05 Mar, 2013 12:59 pm

We are going on a four day hike in Wilsons prom in early April. Does anybody know anything about the quality of the water in the creeks and tanks? does it need treatment? The rangers obviously encourage to treat all the the water collected for drinking.... We will be in the Oberon Bay - Roaring Meg - Little Waterloo Bay areas.

also... which brand of water purification tablets are the most palatable...

thanks

I don't know how many nights I have camped at Wilsons Prom, but I guess it would be in the low three figures. I have never even considered treating the water, and never got sick. Water at Oberon Bay will taste slightly brackish, other places will be fine.

I dont think I've treated water in the 5 or 6 times I've been there either, had to boil it for a picky girlfriend once, but I havent experienced any ill effects from drinking the water.
