Croajingalong NP to/from Mallacoota

Parks Victoria's current brochure Walking the wilderness coast (August 2012) refers to walking to/from Mallacoota on Centre Track and Betka Road, with the possible option of going via the beach from Betka River to Bastion Point. Listening to the distant construction/destruction sounds coming from Bastion Point, I can't imagine that it is pleasant walking anywhere near it. That's if it's even possible to walk there now.

There is a much better route which avoids the road, though it's a little longer. About 15 minutes south of the northern end of Old Coast Road Walking Track, a newish track branches NE to the coast and crosses a small creek (like all creeks in the area, not flowing at the moment). This is the northern boundary of the NP. A short rock scramble ends at Pebbly Beach, then the track continues north, mainly on the cliff tops, to Betka River. From there I had to detour briefly onto the road bridge as the sandbar was closed at the river outlet. But immediately after crossing the river, a walking track goes east then north. That veers NW and crosses Betka Road to become Casuarina Walk, following Davis Creek. This track ends only a few blocks NW of the centre of Mallacoota.
