Gardens of Stones - anyone been in since the fires

Postby Osik » Tue 29 Sep, 2020 3:45 pm

Thinking of heading in to the gardens of stone for a few days later this week or over the next few. Was planning on taking in Macleans pass, Mt davidson, point cameron, pantoneys crown & baal bone gap (essentially following one of david noble’s trip reports) - does anyone know how much of that country has been burnt? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Pretty much everything burnt in the Gardens of Stone. Fire intensity varied greatly between different areas. Some really got smashed. Others are growing back well. It's a good time to explore though, as there's no scrub.

Keep in mind that Wolgan (https://www.forestrycorporation.com.au/ ... ue-to-fire) and Ben Bullen (https://www.forestrycorporation.com.au/ ... ue-to-fire) State Forests are still closed from the bushfires, so getting to most of the places you listed isn't possible!

We recently did a loop to Pantoneys from the west - Tarpeian Rock, Baal Bone Point, Pantoneys, Moffitts Pagodas. All in Gardens of Stone. Scrub was minimal.

Our original route was going to be similar to yours.
