I love the way the lake looks to be directly below the peak - when its not!!

I've never payed close enough attention to realise, but yes, it's in the valley before Eros

Heading up (or down) the Du Cane Range somewhere a bit above Lake Selene looking towards Eros and Nereus?

I'm on the Ducane range somewhere, and looking at Eros. But I'm not really near Lake Selene

Eos below Eros sort of gives it away when you look at the map.

Agreed but Pine Tier Lagoon is south of those? (my answer is wrong anyway) OK the road is more major than I perceived.
Might be a process of elimination. Is the road the Lyell Hwy?

I didn't think it extended that far either eggs. I'm still struggling with the relative placement of peak, road and lake.
So, must be in the LSC general area, north of the highway. I'll have another try and guess that you could be on Mt Gell and that is Lake King William.

The lake is correct, but I am yet to get to Gell.
Lake St Clair was often in view.

Yes. Climbing from the hut to the top. Generally an easy pad, but you do seem to go through some patches of scoparia.

Not enough sand to be Milford Creek, too small a watercourse to be Spring River ... where else have they planted one of these grossly overengineered beasties ... ?

Looks a lot narrower than when I was last there. Maybe just had less rain beforehand?

I've seen that sort of formation in a few spots about the place but I'm unsure they are yours there.

I'll start with Mt Gould.

Neat formation.
It would have been nice to have known about this spot when we were there - but we approached the saddle by skirting Ossa's flanks, and went directly from the pools above towards Paddys Nut. Later we exited from the pools - which proved "interesting" in some sections.
I presume this was basically following a benching line from Paddys Saddle towards the exit pad to the OT?

Yes eggs, somewhere between the saddle and the pad. Just wandering around the edge in the evening and found this right-angle split. Quite deep, and the deepest point is the corner. Would be interesting to get in but it's kind of hard to get at.
It's also intriguing to see how far up the sandstone band persists on that side of Ossa.

Haven't been there in 25 years or so, but didn't that used to just be a 2 or 3 wire crossing?

If I'm right about that being Pelion West on the left, with Thetis behind the gap between Achilles and Perrins, you'd pretty well have to be somewhere on Murchison.
