23 March 11am - Lake St Clair to Cradle Mt Shuttle

Postby Gavo » Tue 05 Feb, 2013 9:16 pm

My friend and I have this itinerary for Sunday 23rd March 2013

6:00 - Arrive Davenport (ETA) on Spirit of Tasmania
7:00 - Disembark in vehicle (approx)
10:30 - Lake St Clair Visitor's Centre (approx)
11:00 - Private shuttle pickup @ Visitor's centre by Stan http://www.adventureseekers.com.au/
14:30 - Ronny Creek Carpark (approx)
19:30 - Waterfall Valley Hut (approx)

There is a shuttle running back to the start of the walk from Late St Clair leaving at 11am on Sunday 23rd March. Stan is very personable - please call his # on that website to come along - there are spare seats currently available (not free though ;)

It's a bit of a late time to start the walk, but we're saving a day this way, and don't mind getting to the first hut on dusk or even after dark. Some sunset shots of Barn Bluff would probably look great.

FYI - we are both amateur photographers. If you're a photog or interested in photography then come say hi!
Here is my website: http://gavowen.com Hope to see you out on the trails.

If you run into time problems on the first day you can always start at Dove Lake and go to Scott Kilvert for the first night. This adds a couple of hours to the second day's walk through to Windermere which is ridiculously short and can allow a climb of Barn Bluff if you want.

Not sure about where you are, but it doesn't get dark until around 9pm in Tassie that time of year. You'll have heaps of daylight on your hands :)

Actually March 23 is the equinox, the sun sets in Hobart at 7:18 pm that day, so you should be OK for daylight.
