you cant camp in the milford so you have to book three nights in nights at $55 each and you have to book two boat trips and if you're factoring in the public transport from the sound back to the town a hundred k trip then yes it is more expensive
as far as the other great walks are concerned as i stated $15 a night to camp.. or $55 a guaranteed bunk and gas cookers provided
from the land of the long white clouds...

Yeah but in Tasmania you don't have sandflies =) Anyway I think the debate between Tasmania and NZ is endless. My opinion is that maybe the money from the OT fee is used in Cradle, but not necessarily on the OT track itself, probably more on other tracks, to make them wheelchair/pram accessible, to put boardwalks, woodenstairs, to survey wildlife, etc... But you put the finger on something : it would be nice to know where our money is going, I wouldn't mind paying 200 $ if I knew half of it is going to maintaining the park, the other half to wildlife conservation for example.
