Overland Track Podcasts

Fri 10 Jul, 2009 12:41 pm

G'day all - some of you here might like to know that a series of podcasts about the Overland Track can now be downloaded free from the Parks & Wildlife website. Go to http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=7715

There are six podcasts, one for each day of the "average" Overland Track walker's journey. They were recorded on the track in November last year, in a typically diverse range of weather conditions. The whole thing was done on a shoestring (as per usual with PWS), so don't expect too many bells & whistles. That said, they hopefully give a good idea of the feel and features of this great walk. They're aimed at intending first-time walkers, but will also be a good reminder for those who've walked the track before. If you know someone in that category, please pass this news on.

The podcasts are NOT intended for use while walking the track. So if you see anyone plugged-in while walking, feel free to frown and tut  Feedback is welcome, but be aware that $$ and time constraints may prevent changes to anything but serious problems,

cheers

Peter

I've downloaded the first 4, and been listening to them on the way to work. Most enjoyable.

Glad you're enjoyong the podcasts Camera Poser.

I meant to add that anyone without a portable mp3 player can listen through their computer using Quicktime, Media Player or similar. Personally I find it boring sitting in front of a computer and listening to stuff. But walking to work listening to podcasts on an iPod exercises both my body and my brain ( ... shameless plug for both podcasts and iPods).

cheers

Peter
