Last week, reading the Gaia GPS forum, I noticed mention that LINZ maps of New Zealand are now available - free, no extra charge. They don't mention it in their product description, and it's not intuitively obvious that it's there, so I thought I'd mention it. I'm planning to hike half the Te Araroa Track in 2012, so I am completely jazzed about this. I suspect some of you folks in Australia get over to NZ on occasion, so I thought I'd mention it here.
To add LINZ maps you need to do the following. While in Gaia GPS, Settings->Help->Add Topo Map Sources
Then, hit New Zealand Topo
Also, while you're' there, hit "ESRI World Imagery" - those are downloadable satellite images. (Gaia GPS also has Google Sat images, but those aren't downloadable for offline use.)
Doing this will add those two additional map sources to your list of available map layers.
