Wowsers !! love it however could have bought a couple of really good Single Malts for the price of that so I guess I will continue using the 200ml 39 gm Plastic Bundaberg Rum Bottle/ Flask that has served me well for a number of years :) and it contains around 5.8 drinks depending on what you fill it with

Yes, an impulse buy that has oddly over the years aided in the loss of memory concerning it's initial cost! Image

I don't do campfires and have never used the word "tipple". We call it the "evening snoot". Often it's the rather pedestrian and ubiquitous Tennessee Whiskey called black label Jack Daniels. Sometimes it's a more expensive bourbon. We never pack the really good stuff; it would be a waste. On UL trips I take the highest strength available, which here is 75.5% ABV. At that strength it's more properly termed "medicine".

One observation I have made over the years is that no matter how much I pack we always run short. On one long trip we packed thin straws so we could suck up the remaining drops from the bottom which otherwise cling due to surface tension. This tended to atomize the liquid and it was hard not to inhale some of it. I know we could have washed the liquor out of the bottle but diluting whiskey with water is something we just don't do. After those final drops were consumed we would stick our noses in the bottle each night and inhale the essence that persisted.

That Ti flask is pretty but I find that PET bottles are quite good for transport. Lightweight, no taste alteration, crushable. LDPE is not as good.

An auld nip of Whiskey, or brandy.

'Auld' is Scots, 'whiskey' is Irish. Make up your mind.

This is my current "tipple" when I go on overnighters - I pour it into a 500ml bladder. I normally fill a spare 3ltr bladder with wine for longer hikes.

Smooth single malt from a new'ish Victorian company. Highly recommended.

+1

I don't drink this normally, Scotch is my thing, but after trekking with vodka, whiskey, schnapps; a spiced rum seems to work the best for my mates and I.
Sitting down in my dry camp clothes after a hard day walking, and sipping that flask is one of life's small pleasures for sure!!

Drambui is especially delicious in the snow! Shared a lovely port with some mates at Lake Tali Karng a few years ago too. Laphroig 10year old on the last snow trip could almost convert me!

Drambuie is amazing but Glayva is even better!
