Airbed advice (car camping)

Hi,

I need to replace our old palm air beds for car camping with my wife.

It doesn’t matter what type so long as it is comfortable so it has to be singles that can be put together. In the past I added press studs along the sides. Probably 3 season though it’s a compromise between hot summer nights and below zero. We do have double layer bags so can go from a single layer quilt to double layer single or double bag rated to -5 obviously we don’t want to be too warm underneath in hot weather but a thick space blanket on the ground under the old palms has worked well for us in very cold conditions.

She is not a hiker and has health and weight issues so thin light hiking matts are just not going to cut it.
Comfort is the highest priority and I need advice on what to look at.

After comfort, I would consider weight as the total weight of gear can be a pain with setting up, packing down, space in the car etc but comfort cannot be compromised on this one or she will not cope with the camping experience.

Suggestions please?

Not sure how much your willing to spend, but these are amazingly comfy. The vertical sides are great, you don't fall off the edge. The also join together but I have not tested that. http://www.campsaver.com/megamat-sleeping-pad

Aussie disposals sells 4WD camping mats. They're basically massive and thick versions of the classic self-inflating mat. They're about 6ft2 long, pretty wide and about 8cm thick. Velvet-like finish on the top, plastic on the bottom.

I've got a couple for car camping, and also use them for spare mattresses around the house. They don't roll up small, but they're *&%$#! comfortable and very cushioned. But firm enough to take a pretty heavy person I'd say.

Aerobad pakmat. I use one for summer car camping. Very convenient solution that packs down reasonably small. Plenty of thickness.

You can probably adapt a couples solution from another brand or make something yourself (two bands of elastic?)
