Nemo Nano Elite

Hey guys im looking for a compact single skin tent and happened to stumble upon the nemo nano elite, the nano elite is lightweight (1.5kg's, well lightish), compact packed, easy setup and has good ventilation. Has anyone had any experience, with this tent or any NEMO products ? Cheers, matt.

Hi mattmacman, I have a Nemo losi 2 it replaced my 20 yearold Salewa and saved me 2kg.
At 2.4kg it is not ul. But is very well made. (I dont use to pack sack, New guy lines and ti stakes)
Great 3 plus season tent for use in Australia.
I love the room and colour(LIME GREEN) Its amazing how the colour of a tent makes you feel.
I get many comments from others and my walking mate love it.
It has handle all weather and winds.Even snow.
Is the Nano single skin? The Losi is double and very well ventilated.
Condensasion may be a problem in Australia with the Nano!

Hey mate,yes the nano is single skin like you i am bias towards certain features of a tent in this case a single skin tent, im in love with the idea ! Im looking at one of the two Rab tents or the nemo nano ! Any suggestions are appreciated !

Mattmacman. If you really want to go down the single skin path, I would go with the Rab.
The fabric used is a known quantity! eVent.

I have a lot of Rab gear, jackets, sleeping bags, fleece all very functional and well made.
Even through Rab is British , you will find better deals in the USA. Not as well known brand in the USA.
I think Rab now owns Integral Designs in Canada, They make nice gear to.

But remember these bivy/tents are designed for cold alpine areas. Not really ideal for cold ,wet and humid areas like Australia.
Rain will even come in the door as you get in and out, you will have condensation problems
I have always wanted a eVent bivy. Even though the eVent ones are the best , there are to many reviews about condensation.

Good luck with you search for an ideal shelter. These bivy/tents do look cool!

I have used the OR Alpine goretex bivy here in WA and only got a small amount of condensation from time to time. Placed sleeping bag out in the sun and it dried off pretty quickly. Although I must confess I have been lucky with good weather when using it. If it was damp/rainy several days in a row I may not have had the luxury of being able to let it dry out each morning.

I have just ordered an Integral Designs Bugaboo event bivy. Will do an online report on it and how it compares to my goretex bivy once I get to use it.

Etrangere, Cannt wait to read how the Intergal Design bivy works.
I would like to know how you would go with rain every night of a three to four day hike. (not asking you to do this)
but you probably would not take a bivy if rain is forcasted or take a tarp as well.

Well I have a 2 week trip planned climbing in the Stirling ranges in a few weeks, I'm hoping it will arrive before then so I can give it a thorough testing. I was planning to just use it with a StS poncho/tarp over the head area of the bivy giving me somewhere to shelter/cook under etc if it rains. I have a feeling with the amoount of rain we have had in Perth lately that I will be able to test it several days in rainy weather. Fingers crossed it gets here before then!!

What a bueatiful place,I always remember driving south to Esperance. There was a spring shower and rainbows over the rangers.
Hope the Bivy arrives and works out.

I have a Nemo Losi 3P and a Meta 2P...I feel they're both very good tents that have been designed and made with a lot of thought. The Meta is closer to the nano but is a bit lighter at 1.3kg as it uses walking poles instead of tent poles and the reason i ended up choosing it over the nano (as well as the fact its freakishly huge for 1.3kg). I have huge condensation issues with the Meta (single wall) which *could* mean that you'd have problems with Nano...that said as love my Losi which is a double wall but she's a bit bulky at 2.4kg...build quality and size rate really highly though!

I'd agree with Managaroo that if you end up going the single wall in Aus go for the Rab!

We have a Nemo losi 3. It's a nicely built, roomy & easy to use tent; albeit a bit heavy. I'm 6'4" and fit in it comfortably. It's strong: had it on a ridge with 90km winds recently without any dramas. I'd be interested to know how the single wall tents work out.
