do lambs have wooly armpits?

That price would be right, you'll just have to wait for the 90% off sale...
at full price it would need to do more than be easily led (or good eating)..

Of course, how else would they make comedy fart noises?
I picked up a bargain pair of new dachstein mitts today for $25 in Lonnie. Each mitt would have twice as much wool as one of those shirts!

Is it Aus dollars or NZ dollars, remember 1 Aus dollar is about 500 NZ dollars... So pretty cheap really...
But you are right i think they have gone mad, abit more to make than the above mention garment but 700 dollars for a rain coat. I would love to get my hands on whatever they are smoking... hundred dollar bills no doubt!

I think i'll pass... those gloves though... do they have wool on the palms? :|

I already have next summers fashions sorted. Not happy with flimsy wool or stinky sticky synthetics, ive been reading about other options, in particular Sportwool and the mix of wool and polyester in one garment. Made sense, wool on the inside and something more durable (lighter and quicker drying) on the outside, polyester.. Maybe a long sleeve zip top would make a good summer shirt, especially with some sort of collar...

Took a while bit of a search, for some reason there are few options. Eventually found what seems to be a bargain:

Sorry, was giving it some thought... anyhow, now ive let you guys in, dont tell everyone, I dont want to be meeting too many other's cramping my style out there :D

You killed all the fun getting all serious on us!

That top looks like a good idea, but wouldn't the polyester side of things just get stinky like the bad ol days. I mean it's kinda like wearing a thin merino thermal under a polyester shirt isn't it? But if it is good damn you for pointing it out only a few hours after I had a spend up on old fashioned merino!

it was expensive as it was virgin wool, and that is pretty rare around here (well, medium rare)...all were sold very quickly though, to a man from Dunedin.

Great minds think alike Nuts

I like the feel of merino (awesome for travelling in and day to day wear) but find under high exertion (when pushing it and sweating lots) that it doesn't tend to wick the perspiration away from the skin as well as some polyester/polypro tops that I've had in the past. I end up feeling chilled when the exertion stops. (I used to have some Czech polypro tops that wicked really well and didn't get stinky, but they've been worn to death). I've also been looking for an alternative for a while and recently bought one of these: http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ ... p_top.html (I asked them to order in the berry colour version. I don't think white is particularly practical in our bush!). More expensive than the one you've identified Nuts but I've become a bit of a Montane fan and was happy to pay the extra $. An added bonus of the wool/poly blend is a better warmth to weight ratio than pure merino (another reason for my search for tops made from this blend).

Will report back when it's had a bit of use.

Cheers,

JB

Looks good J/Bean. I was considering them but thought i'd look a bit too 'little britan' given the sporting cut :) I did see one of the Oz online shops selling the older model but the price was similar. There are also a couple of other l/s zip sportwool options around (ie for bulk order etc)..

The Montane stuff is good and the bionic top perhaps lighter than my option.

Just to clarify for the Orvis's, (i notice all the l/s blue are now gone :) ) : They run true to size and are polo thick, but heavier with a tighter weave (so (if for summer especially) sizing up would be a good idea)....

Edit: To give a better idea the Mens size Large weights 285gms....!

This is another option - heavier weight - really for winter or cool nights outside of winter. Cheap if they have your size (they tend to be smaller sizing, order a size up)! Also available in a men's version - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/hel ... p-ec019828

Cheers,

macpac made interwool products (merino/poly blend) many years ago, a bit earlier than the market was ready to buy perhaps.. ..many staff still use these garments for more active sports (mtb etc), and we'll be bringing them back again soon!

Good to hear Cam. I used to have one of your interwool t-shirts, it was a really good top. Good to have different horses for different courses (pure merino versus merino/poly blends and different weights for different uses/conditions). I guess it's all in the marketing!
