Hi all,

In an attempt to reduce my packweight, I have just bought a Western Mountaineering SummerLite, size small (sleeps people up to 5' 6") with a RHS zip. The specs are available at http://www.westernmountaineering.com/in ... ntentId=69.

It arrived yesterday and I tried it out last night, wearing long pyjamas, on my bed at home. I've always been a cold sleeper, and the bag was too cold for me - even at 20 degrees C inside

So, if anyone wants to buy it - I will sell for the price I paid + shipping: $350. The same bag retails for around $600 in Oz. I'll throw in whatever it costs to ship to you.

Otherwise, I'll return it to the US.

PS. Any recommendations on a good, warm, lightweight, 3-season bag welcome! My 12yo Fairydown bag weighs 1.35kg and if I can't find anything both warmer and lighter, I'll be sticking with it!

I have the same bag and have found that it needs a good shake to allow the air to get in between the down. I'm a fairly warm sleeper, but have been happy with it. Just used it on a trip along the high plains and loved it.

Mmmm... quite the conondrum being cold in a bag that has such accolades. Try measuring the loft you could look up the BPL review from memory its about 11cm. If you're still cold and the bag is functional, then well ...?

For alternatives try the WM Versatile the warmest of the extremelite series. It's about 870g with 480g fill.

The bag lofts to the right height, but it's just too cold for me. I slept last night in my Fairydown bag at the Murray hut on the Bibbulman and was toasty on a 8.5 degree min night. I had to cuddle round my dog because his blankets weren't enough... perhaps the Summerlite will do for him

Otherwise, looking at the WM Apache (same ratings as the Versalite) and wishing MacPac did their Express600 in a Women's size...

i'd be keeping it and making an ultralite overbag to fix that problem, you will loose too much money selling it

can i ask what shop you bought it from in the US?

I bought it from backcountrygear.com, but they do not ship WM products out of the US, so I had a friend mail it on for me. I've bought quite a few things from them over the years and their service is excellent and USPS postage very resonable.

I have the WM Apache Gore Windstopper with overfill and love it. I am a warm sleeper so in temps around 0 degree and lower, I love it.
Have tested it down to -5 degree and I was fine and toasty in only thermals. In saying that anything above 5 degrees requires me to leave the zip nearly half way open.

My previous bag was a Mont Nadgee which serviced me for many years and I had that bag refilled once in its time, but a little more weighty than the WM Apache.
