I'm looking for ways to improve my clothing layering system and think i need to add a windshirt.

There are times when i find a tshirt alone too cold but when i put my jumper then i get too hot.
any wind shirt recommendations?

I've got a couple of Montane Featherlite smocks for this. On lightweight day trips in warmer weather I often take one plus equivalent pants as wind/wet weather gear. Weighs little and takes up no space. I probably wouldn't recommend them for scrub bashing though.

would the fabric over the shoulder handle a 10kg pack well enough?

Hmm, the fabric feels paper thin but I suspect stronger than it looks/feels (puncture/abrasion by sticks/rocks would be the main risks I think). I haven't used mine for really extended periods with a pack on but still seems fine. I guess the DWR might rub off at the pressure points eventually, but I doubt the fabric would be damaged by a typical harness strap under normal conditions. The daypack I usually take in conjunction is around 7-8kgs, but 10kgs isn't a lot of weight anyway.

I have a Feathertop base/outer layer long sleve shirt that is more wind resistant and warmer than it looks. I use it as the next thing over a T. Might be worth a look.
