TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Huski Jackets?

Postby snoop75 » Thu 01 Jul, 2010 9:22 pm

Hi there,

Anyone here use Huski jackets?

The Colorado, Everest and Helium are on sale for $59.99 at the moment. I'm a hiker on a budget so I was looking at snapping one up at this price. Was considering either the Everest or Helium models. Would these be any good at the prom in winter?

Thanks for any info.

Cheers.

I cant help you specifically with those jackets but I do own a Huski fleece lined work vest (yellow/reflective tape) which I find great. Work wear shops ie Totally Work Wear and Work Clobber are worth a browse now and then for those on a budget or just looking for good value. Hard wearing clothes without paying for the expensive trendy brand name. I also have a few Hard Yakka light weight cotton drill long sleeve shirts, hard wearing, light weight, protects from sun, dries quickly.

Thanks for the reply. Gonna check them out in person next weekend hopefully. I guess for $59 you can't really go too wrong.

i have an old Huski explorer bike compressable jacket that i love for short trips cause its light, takes up little room and is wind/waterproof... cheap but it hasnt torn yet in about 6 years (havn't taken it through scrub though)
I notice the closest current model looks like the Stratus....
Apart from the wind proofing it isn't that warm without under layers though but really handy.
They say "breathable" now ... mine is old and technology has come further but i still get a sweat up in this goin up a good hill..

Hi there,
Well just a bit of a follow-up on my experience with Huski jackets. I bought the Helium model online for $59 (heavily discounted) but when it arrived it had a manufacturing fault. Contacted Huski and they were nice enough to offer me a replacement jacket of my choice immediately - no questions asked. Chose the Apex model this time which is one of their priciest models. What an awesome jacket! Waterproof and seems to be breathable - at least more so than my previous crappy jacket. It looks the goods and looks well made - very rugged. It comes with inner detachable solar fleece, armpit area zippers, etc.

If there is a downside it would be its weight. With the inner fleece attached it is a bit heavy. I personally don't mind but some people may. But for $59 I couldn't possibly complain about anything. Love this jacket!
