Any hacks for freshening up Salomon 'goretex' (synthetic not leather) boots that are on the nose?
They were sitting under the verandah but insides got wet due to a rain shower that swept in/under the roof. Once damp they really developed a woof! Am drying them out which may calm them down but might be time for a more thorough treatment.

Good luck! I follow all of Salomon's instructions, and the stink reactivates as soon as I walk through water or wet grass in them. I think there's something about the padding that harbours the smell-producing micro-organisms.

I'm at the point where I'm almost ready to abandon Salomon, since I've never had that problem with any other footwear. Unfortunately, Salomons are by far the best fitting and most comfortable outdoor footwear I've found.

try throughly kneeding the liners in the washwater,
the idea is to remove all the bacterial spores and the biological material from your feet which is the foodstock for the bacteria

Thanks John, I'm already doing that very thoroughly. However the Salomons also have a thickish layer of padded mesh at the sides which I suspect may be the culprit, as it's difficult to knead.

A spray of Glen-20 inside and out may help. Try storing them with a tumble dryer softener sheet inside each shoe:

Try Bowden's own Pomgoh, I had some left over and tried it on some shoes, definitely works to an extent.

I'm sure there are other similar products available
