MSR Hubba Hubba NX - replace tent only?

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

MSR Hubba Hubba NX - replace tent only?

Postby ChrisJHC » Sat 16 Sep, 2023 5:03 pm

I have the above tent and the tent component is dead.
The fly and frame are fine.

Does anyone know if you can replace just the tent?

Is it worth it?

Note that I rarely use the tent as I’ve gone to a hammock but it’s worth having around.

Probably not worth it. If you don't
already have one it may not be too difficult to make a footprint so that you can at least still use it as a light weight fly setup. Curious - what happened to the tent component?

It sat on a shelf in my garage for a couple of years and, when I went to get it out for my son to use, had gone mouldy and turned “manky”.

My wife took one look and told me to throw it out :)

Hmm, manky tent condemned by wife eh? I envy you and can't understand why you would consider finding a replacement inner, you are now in an excellent position to go shopping for a brand new tent. Buy a good one :)

I replaced the fly on my Hubba a couple of years ago for less than a third of the cost of a new tent. Contact the Australian distributors spelean.com.au they will be able to advise cost and availability.

Would you be interested to sell the fly and poles?
I have a Hubba Hubba NX tent and the fly has gone sticky and the pole elastics have deteriorated.

The elastic in the poles can be easily replaced. Google 'replace tent pole shock cord'...

The 'sticky'... more of an issue.

Thanks for the reply Warin… will do… seems like poles can be sorted.
Ive emailed Spelean to enquire if they sell the fly only, if Chris is not keen on selling his tent parts.

While we are on the Hubba subject I lost my ground sheet. If you have one to sell I would be happy, I know it’s easily substituted but I’m a sucker for a complete match. Alternatively if anyone is passing through Coober Pedy visit the oasis caravan park and grab it for me please. Reward offered.

Thanks again Chris for the pm and discussion.
