Anyone used one of these jackets?

They may be better for Tas condition than the 'mountaineering focused' jackets I have been looking at (which seem to be the focus of a lot of companies).

Any other comments on the 'ideal' shell jacket for Tasmanian conditions would also be more than welcome.

The colour choice is a bit bland.

I have a PP Vista (I guess this is the old version of the same thing?) from about 6 years ago. Great jacket for me here in Tasmania, good length, quite robust, never leaked.

Mines a nice maroon colour, if that really matters.

If you do a search of "vista" on this site you can see quite a few posts on what SOB states is prob the older version of the same jacket.

Have one and love it. Only one issue and that is the hood is a little small and short so can feel a bit restrictive compared to other coats I have but still the best by a country mile.

I find the hood on mine too big and floppy (until I tighten up all the draw cords).

I know there was a picture of it somewhere, but I can't find it now. (The evil St Nik shot).

If you prefer a 'longer' jacket, i'd imagine that Macpacs event range may be very popular given time. I recently grabbed a Montane superfly event jacket (not long, not as short as some) and pants and the stuff does 'breathe', where as iv'e never really thought goretex ever did (so why not just any old brands cheapest option (for scrub especially)? Verdict will be a while coming but the jacket construction (event aside) is as rugged as the other jackets iv'e had...

Not sure about Macpac's eVent stuff if you are after a coat length thing. Their coat length jacket is the Copland and is made from Reflex not eVent.

I really like the look of the Resolution which is longer than most but not nearly as long as the Vista or Copland. This is made from eVent and is on my shortlist for next year. http://www.macpac.com.au/shop/en_au/gea ... acket.html

Have you had a chance to compare the different varieties of Gore-tex as the Pro-shell is suppose to better than the older performance shell but this could just be marketing hype. I have found the Pac-lite good on the pants and the Pro-shell excellent on the jacket but have no experience of the Performance-shell. With eVent have you had any issues with the wetting out after a few days wear? How doe the Montane compare on price to its competitors as their gear is very good but cheap I have not found it to be.
