Tenkara UL fly fishing pack rod

Tenkara UL fly fishing pack rod
I came across Tenkara rods last year in a BPL article and my mate Dave brought one back from the US, I had a try of Dave’s rod in January and I have been hooked ever since. I now own two Tenkara’s, a Yamame and a BPL UL Hane, they have become my favorite rod pack rods. The Yamame is 3.7m long with a closed length 54cm and weighs in at 102g http://www.tenkarausa.com/product_info. ... ucts_id/35 . The Hane
Is 3m long and closes down to 40.6 cm and weighs in at 77g is one of the lightest rods around, the Hane arrived two days after my last trip and I have not been able to use it yet. http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgibin/ ... g_rod.html
The rods are able to pack up so small that they easily fit into my 50 liter pack and they are particularly suitable for small streams and in the two over night trips that I have used my rod I have caught over 60 fish, the biggest at around 34cm. As there is no reel, it is an advantage to be able to use the wading stick and fish at the same time. The line is about the same length as the rod and I have been using a 1-1.5m tippet.

Two collapsed rods

two rods with line, with the Yamame I use a piece of western line which is wrapped around two pieces of cork that I glued on to the tube, this is designed to fit into the sleeve and the rod tube.

The Yamame

Me fishing a nice stream, using my wading stick.
