Signal mirrors

I've decided it's time to replace the old scratched piece of mirrored plastic.
I need some advice on the best available mirror with sighting device and wondering if the very expensive glass ones really are a better tool to carry?
While I doubt I'll ever need to use one I know that if I get into trouble it will be very serious trouble indeed.
However there is a huge difference in cost between this small one

and the big American made glass unit

Usually tho you get what you pay for

I have an ACR signal mirror https://www.acrartex.com/products/hot-s ... al-mirror/

ACR mirror

It's yours, if you want it. It came with a PLB. I'm not likely to use it. It has a few scratches from rattling around in storage - still works, though.

I'll take it but I'm still interested in peoples advice.
I'd probably keep mine in the PLB pouch too.

Just use an old CD or DVD.

I use a mirror compass. A device with triple duty, compass, mirror to put on sunscreen and a signal mirror.

An older version of something like this.

A $6 silvered mirror from Coghlans, available at Anaconda (among many other places), is all you will need.
This exotic-looking mirror, with an added lanyard and clip, is actually from my landscape photography kit; it is used to sight the spirit levels on the front of the ballhead when I cannot physically move in front of the tripod to do so. As above, by Coghlans, $6.00. Other bits from my trinket box (and it's a BIG trinket box...). The PLB is always affixed to my pack, in which the mirror also resides. Sorted.

I used to have a really good glass mirror in my first-aid kit. Very handy when looking for nasties when solo.
It would do if I could find it.
The idea of using an old CD or DVD is a good idea for the car, I'll make sure I add one to each cars glove box

I use the mirror in my compass. It was very handy in really thick scrub. I would sight a tree or similar with it, then send a party member to it, then the rest would follow.
