Was looking at Sea to summit plastic x-plates and x-bowls.Has anyone of you tried them?Any good?I'm wondering about the taste,
cause sometimes its quite unpleasant to drink or eat from plastic ones especially it its a hot stuff.How about those?

no bad taste from our bowls, but they transfer more heat to the base then they advertise, and they don't stack, which is a bummer.

I bought an X Bowl and an X Mug ages ago but yet to test them out. I really should try out at least the mug at home for cups of coffee and see how it goes.

I use a trangia cook set with which ever of my 13 stoves i plan to use.......I just eat from the trangia pots hoolding them with the handle or in a tea towel, I love sea to summit stuff but personally i have seen the sets you are mentioning and figure why bother, save space/weight and eat from your cook set

I bought a bowl and cup set ages ago, food grade silicone and BPA free plastic for the base/rim - no plastic taste at all. Destruction tested by our pet monkey (she loves to open and collapse them over and over again), they nest well, have graduation markings on the inside, only negative is they are heavy, and can be a bit hard to clean as the sides are not smooth due to the concertina design for collapsing. I use a small soft dish brush now instead of a sponge, easier to use less water then. Weight was not really a drawback for me though, the nesting/flat stack is the best feature for my cycle touring.

Somehow managed to cut the silicon on my fold up plate and also struggled to hold it so went for the plastic plate S2S make with the thumb lip and that is now my firm favourite. A great design with minimal weight combined with good strength and a heat reducing hex patterned base makes this a winner in my mind over the fold up plate.

I have the X-Bowl and must agree that is does pass a bit of heat through the base. Mine is red and, to date no sign of it changing colour with food stains or take up a combine smell of all of my meals.
For a mug I use the S2S Delta insulated mug, great capacity, insulated to hold, no handle to get in the way, and a lid, just doesn't fold up.
