mupperoni wrote:Hi JB, how are you doing with the Hubba Hubba HP tent? I'm curious to know as I'm going to get one soon. You got yours at such a steal price! The best I could find is $378 from sunnysports.
Most online shops won't send MSR gear outside of USA though

I'm mainly wondering whether the Hubba Hubba HP will be suitable to use in the scorching mid summer nights?
It seems that it will be fine for use in near or below zero degree (celsius). Hoping to take it to the Overland Track one day but I want to use it for summer camping too.
Thanks for sharing your experiences
Hi mupperoni,
Yes, I was VERY lucky with the price for my Hubba Hubba HP! (right place, right time

). As Brett mentioned some stores do send MSR products os or you can always use a US shipping forwarder if you can't find one - I use shipito.com). Because of work commitments over the last few months I've only used the Hubba Hubba HP once so far but it was a reasonable test - 2 nights in the Walls of Jerusalem with constant rain for much of the time, reasonably strong winds and several cms of snow one night. No problems whatsoever - it held up to that with ease. It is quick to pitch and easy to pitch taut. We used all the guys to ensure it held up to the wind and kept all the vents open - there was no water ingress and no condensation inside the tent and it was quiet despite the wind. Also relatively light for a two man. I was very happy with it.
In terms of handling scorching summer nights and conditions such as the OT: the Hubba Hubba (not HP) has an all mesh inner which would be better for hot summer conditions, but the HP (less mesh on the inner and lighter weight overall) would be a more versatile option (handles a wider range of conditions including 3 seasons on the OT). If you're not concerned about bugs you could always just use a footprint and the fly in summer or just leave the doors open (assuming it's not raining) and ensure the tent is oriented to take advantage of any breeze.
I'm really happy with my Hubba Hubba HP so far (very limited use but a reasonable test). The only other lightweight 2 man I would consider is the Tarptent Scarp 2.
'Hope that helps.
Cheers,
JB
