TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Salewa Ultra Tent

Sat 27 Feb, 2010 4:48 pm

Just noticed that the Salewa Ultra tent has been removed from the online listings of a couple of major suppliers in Melboure. Am I reading too much into this or has this tent fallen out of favour? This after the Ultra received a high recommendation in the tent suvey of a well know magazine recently?
Cheers

My experience with this tent has been pretty bad. I really like the design - very roomy and 2 big vestibules, but the workmanship is pretty shoddy. Seems are badly stitched and the clips to connect the outer to the poles are only glued on. We've used our tent on only 4 trips (SCT, 2 overnights, and 14 days mostly base camping) and have had a tear in the inner seam, a pole break and a clip pull off the outer.

I wouldn't buy another one of these, but would love to find another tent with the same layout!
