TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Any advice on best gaiters for Tassie conditions?

There is so much on this topic in these forums, do a quick search. From what I've read there is no "best" gaiter. They will all break quickly. Canvas can take more of a battering then goretex, and a longer length will protect your legs much better than a shorter length.

http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2971&hilit=gaiters that is a good thread to start on.

That thread is the one to look at - but I was also struck by corvus' suggestion on the topic of Leeches ( viewtopic.php?f=5&t=668 ) - not to wear black gaiters - easy leech camouflage !!
I'd never thought of that before. Depends where you might be walking I guess.
