TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. Just curious - when buying my first pack, I found this Aiking 85l. Even though it's a few years old, I bought it - mainly because it was advertised as an Australian pack. It looks to be a bit older that I first thought. As far as I can tell, Aiking and One Planet merged in 1997. That's all that I can find out. As I said, I'm curious. I'd like to know a bit more about what I've bought, so any background on the pack would be appreciated.

Andrew at One Planet would be the best person to talk to Pack looks to be in great shape. Seams a fair bit narrower than the newer models.

I made this pack and it could be upto 20 years old. I should be fair, back in those days Ivy, Lynette, Gwen and Norman would have had something to with it too.
Inside the pack there should be a label with a unique batch code. If you let me know the number I can tell you it’s exact history including material supplier and batch.
Aiking (pronounced aching) started off around 1989 as a repair business specializing in outdoor equipment located in Lt bourke street, Melbourne. After some time repairing the rest i started to dable with a few items, the first being Gaiters building upto packs. The range evolved and expanded over time.
It didn’t take long to realize the name Aiking was good name for a repair business however a *&%$#! name for a pack brand so when we merged with One Planet we slowly phased out Aiking and now all our branding is One Planet.
We are still making our packs in Australia, we do not subcontract, the whole pack is made by us in Sunshine and even the canvas we use is made in Australia.
The pack looks in good order, if by any chance it needs some TLC you are most welcome to send it home for a service.

huh, there you go, probably a wise move, thought the old brand was named 'tounge in cheek'
