Re-sealing fly on Moondance 2

The seam sealing on my Moondance 2 is starting to fail, Mont have advised they will not re-seal it as apparently this procedure doesn’t work well on older tents. (13yo)
They don’t stock a replacement fly (newer model having been modified) and have recommended Seam Grip as a temporary life extender for the fly.
The rest of the tent is perfectly fine, it hasn’t had an enormous amount of use and I’m extremely disappointed that it will become redundant.
I’m happy to give the Seam Grip a go but would be grateful to hear other suggestions, thanks.

Discuss the problem and see if they can come up with a re-sealing solution.
Otherwise, Seam Grip is your best option, but it will eventually fail. The right fix is to completely heat-seal the seam, but the material must be in very good condition for that to work. Thirteen years is very good service for a tent; my Moondance 1 had seen brutal use and lasted bang-on 10 years before I sold it off — pinholes in the floor, seam seals in the tub peeling away, laddered mesh, broken zips and a substitute pole from a Black Wolf tent when I lost my own. Buyer loved it (!). Soon after I bought the Moondance 1 Mk II (which joins the MacPac Minaret and DuoLite...).

Just dilute good neutral silicon with either turps or Shellite and paint it on.
Use 1:6 1 silicon to 6 Shellite or close, wash the area with Isopropyl and use a narrow brush

Is this very successful when just doing seams rather than the entire fly?
I was planning on trying it on a tent i own.

Done 3 tents, 2 good enough to last a couple more years; one total failure. I did wash all tents before treating.

I’m washing it in the bathtub, just in water.

No offence but that's rinsing not washing.
I use a mix of Bi-Carb and ammonia and double rinse, or Lux flakes if I can still finsd any

I have home-made laundry detergent, which contains borax, washing soda and laundry soap (Velvet). Any thoughts on using this?

I can;t comment as I've never used that mix. Might want to trial a small throwaway piece first

Soaps leave behind a residue.
Isopropyl while expensive do leave the area very clean, used on very expensive equipment to ensure it is clean.
I prefer metho as it removes water ... and is much cheaper. But it I want clean then Isopropyl.
