Outdoor Research Jackets

Does anyone have any experience with, or feedback about, OR Reflexa/Revel jackets?

I've got the revel overtrousers.
can't complain, light, stretchy. good breathability as good as gore tex... lasted well.
not so good in the cold, as they just conduct the cold to your skin so you'd need a thermal layer underneath to insulate.
guy in the outdoor shop said they get less complaints about failure of pertex than they do about gore tex. I think OR make really great gear bt they dont seem to have gained the same rep as some of the bigger brands. possibly only because they don't market as heavily... i've got so may OR hats it's not funny, love their designs...
its reasonably priced gear as well considering how good it is, a lot better priced than a lot of the major brands.
they have a nifty design in the jackets that you can completely unzip the side of the jackets in hot weather to improve venting, and put the coat over the top of your belt.

Thanks Wayno. Just needed a little reassurance before committing myself to yet another sale item. (Yes, I am fast becoming a gear junkie!). Hiking.com.au have the Reflexa jacket for $85.

I've the OR Helium 2 jacket, just spent 2 weeks bushwalking with it. Great jacket, light, waterproof, very packable. A simple jacket that works. Material seems thin to the touch but it is tough. I had a nasty fall landed on my elbow with rock surface, not a scratch on the jacket.

On the same trip, I was using the OR Revel pants. Super breathable. There is a cheaper version of the Revel with Pertex, can't remember the name but I'll definitely recommend spending slightly more for this breathable version. Full length zippers on both sides, if you need further ventilation, you can unzip both sides all the way as the pants has 3-4 velcro along the length. Fairly easy to put on the pants in a flash without taking off your boots and gaiters.

guess the manufacterers arent that original at coming up with names for their gear, you get various names that crop up on more than one brand..

That's correct, but I found them pretty good in the Arthurs
