TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Hi all, can anyone recommend a decent water proof two way with weather updates? Cheers

Australia does not have a dedicated "Weather Alert" service as they do in the US and which is supported by many US CB radios.

In Australia some areas have an Early Warning Network tramsitted on UHF CHannel 30 http://www.uhfcb.com.au/UHFCB-Broadcast-Network.php but I have no idea how widespread this is or how reliable.

I have used a weather resistant Uniden UHF076SX on the trail a couple of times when walking with separate parties but no longer do so as it is not worth the weight penalty.
