Cecile wants to move house.

The Boss will be retiring very soon and this house won't work for her hobby needs when she does. We were semi interested in a property in Violet Town but it just sold [ was on the market for a long while due to issues with flooding and needing a completely new full kitchen] but the area suits my wants.
If we didn't want to move state and given my love of the high country is there anywhere that members could suggest that has reasonable proximity to health care. I'd love to move to Tasmania but that isn't an option really, Tassie has become too expensive.
Naturally a limited budget; but we both need work space, a She-Shed for herself and a ManCave for me.
At least one spare bedroom for family but more would be better. Room for chickens a bonus

A structurally sound ruin costs less and allows renovations to be done over time. My current residence had this. Before moving in I painted and had electricals fixed and carpet installed. Since then I've been renovating as funds and disposition allow. Being well above flood levels and a flat property is good. I'm having ramps installed. It's hard to know if the current place should be sold first and then look for another, or make an offer on the new place and then sell the current one. In both cases there should be a long settlement period, with the option to change the settlement dates. You may need bridging finance for a short time. Another option is that you move into the new place and the title remains with the vendor for a few weeks pending sale proceeds of the current place. Make sure that cashflow is adequate.

When I was approaching retirement nearly 6 years ago, we were pretty much committed to selling up and moving to Tasmania.
Then family circumstances changed, Covid hit and we both faced some significant health issues.
So the plans changed. We decided to stay put and invest in renovations and improvements instead.
Now have new bathrooms, a fairly large solar panel installation, and numerous other improvements and repairs that have made the place very liveable.
I've been slowly cleaning up my 3m x 3m Hardiplank/Colorbond/concrete floor garden shed/workshop and turning it into a "man cave". It's an ongoing project but almost complete.
Even though these things are not cheap, we budgeted sensibly and my thinking was that the cost of moving would likely be much higher, disregarding logistical and other issues.
It helps that we like the location and have been here forever. We're quite a distance from the city and not yet suffering from that level of claustrophobia - I can walk 15 minutes and be in the bush.
But the city and other places are quickly accessible when needed. We're well served locally by transport, healthcare and so on.
As much as a seachange would be nice I figured we could spend any spare funds on travel and visit those places, which is what we've been doing.
My current thinking is that the next time I move will be when they carry me out in a box.

I keep telling Cecile that we should build a sleepout for the kids so that she can sew in the spare room and also a She-Shed for all her other stuff.
I need to clean up my own crap in the shed and get rid of some of the stereo gear and speaker building stuff and the accumulated military collection too.
