The trailer I has was simply too big and heavy so it has been moved on and I am now looking for something much smaller. Nobody here in Geelong is willing to build a tiny trailer so I am looking at this one
https://www.balancetrailers.com.au/5x3- ... g-bt53fwt/Before I spend my money I was wondering if anybody here has bought from this business or heard anything about this particular unit? Good or bad?
Anything bigger than 3*5 and I tend to pack way too much gear

Don't Sparks make any small trailers?

They won't make a road rated 3*4 or 3*5 I've asked more than once.

I've looked at your linked page some time ago MD.
They look very good, but I would want to inspect a finished trailer before making a decision.
Two odd things in the spiel :
1/ ATM of 650 kg but no actual weight of the bare trailer, which I suspect would be rather heavy, given the other specs. Potential commonality of materials and construction MAY mean that the weight saving over a similar 6x4 is very little.
2/ With an ATM of only 650kg, why have heavy 6 leaf HD springs ? .

Good questions
My main reason for picking this size is to stop me from taking too much stuff and it fits in the space available at home easily.
Unbraked trailers are limited to 750kg anyway so I suspect they are about a 150/200 kilo load which suits me fine

Or - just a suggestion
A standard 6x4 will be cheaper than a bespoke 3x5
Resell is easier and more likely to return value
You might be able to get a cheap one second hand
As 6x4 is standard there’s a bigger range and might be lighter ones
You can always use the 6x4 for garden stuff and helping people move etc
Just and idea - you don’t
have to fill it

Except that a 6*4 is just too tight for the space I have now. The small storage space available is why I sold the 7*5

Understand. The space thing would be a rather inflexible requirement. Higher sides may compensate for the reduce volume of the smaller trailer
I would then suggest that the springs supplied be downgraded to some thing more suitable to avoid bouncing all over the place and destroying the contents. The springs in the spec, if correct, are probably provided with the logical view that many owners ignore regs and would overload, therefore overkill is better business sense.
I would also want to know the nett weight, particularly as your prospective tow car is no Mack.

I noted that the axle on the smallest can be upgraded so maybe available rated to 750kg which easily explains the 6leaf springs, I could add dampers perhaps to counter the empty trailer bounce
