Be on the lookout for ... NW Tassie stolen trailer

Thu 06 Oct, 2016 3:30 pm

In the last day there was a burglary of a friend in NW Tassie, Waratah near Burnie. It was a nasty job, with a lot of items taken and the house trashed. Horrible. One item that was stolen was a trailer, and this could be dumped on remote roads, so walkers are asked to look out for this. A picture is set out below. The trailer is described in the Police report as:
"Trailer box type homemade, with metal stock rack and gate, custom made green cover with white zip."
The rego is XT 2808.

If this is spotted please contact Burnie CIB, Detective Luke Negri, or leave a message at the station. Cite Police Report 545 344. The station details are 88 Wilson St, Burnie, Phone (03) 6434 5211, Fax (03) 6434 5250 and http://www.police.tas.gov.au.

I wish to everyone that has been robbed the same outcome I had.
No I was not over insured nor did I claim for stuff I did not have, in fact I was under insured because I had a lot of camera gear that was well over the $5000 limit.
However that robbery forced us to consider moving a few streets away to a safer area (many places were robbed around our rented flat, some guy...) and to finally buy our own place.
Best investment we ever made. (crappy area when we bought, very trendy 20 years later) .

There's a Facebook page lop, 'stolen items tasmania' with a good number of members.
Unfortunately lots of stuff quickly goes North on the ferry (and rural properties are a prime target in NW Tas from previous reports)

Lophophaps, I hope your mate is OK. It has never happened to me, but I believe the violation of private space is the twister in it all. Not sure how close you are to him/her, but phone call might be priceless.

Newhue, agreed, criminal matters like this can be traumatic. Reactions can be quite bad, akin to PTSD. I referred my friend to the Tassie Victims of Crime

Most parts of Australia have an agency like this. We've been keeping in touch, as have a lot of family and friends.

Nice. Its also possible people fall into a hole after all the inital love and concern passes. Set yourslelf a little promise to call again upon recieving your next electricity bill, or similar. Its timely enough to care and be concerned, but spaced a bit so you don't get burdoned. That might sound a bit cold, but I have seen concerned people sucked into wirlpools buy people who are reluctant to move on.

Time will heal this sort of thing. It's hard to move on when the **** thieves come back. Advice just in.
"Stolen from big garage our 2 Foxico 250cc Quad Bikes. One green and one orange faded to yellow. They cut the stock fences to get them out of the farm."

I wonder what the underlying cause of this is.
