The Great Himalaya Trail, high route across Nepal

Postby johnrs » Wed 12 Feb, 2020 4:40 pm

Hi Folks
Here are some links to a Great Himalaya Trail crossing in the latter part of 2019 by a group of three young walkers.
1300kms west to east across Nepal, with 15 5000m + passes.
From the steaming monsoon to minus 20 in early winter.
This is the youngest group to have made this crossing.
It was three years in the planning.
With thanks to Scouts Australia, Dick Smith, The Tony Balthasar award and Robin Boustred who pioneered and documented the route.

Very special thanks to Chhiree Sherpa who guided the group.
Chhiree is one remarkable cool dude and simply the most experienced GHT guide!

Their blog The Dahl Diaries is here

and a video here

Chhiree is the only guide to have led this long extreme route twice.
I can't recommend him highly enough.
