Brand shiny new gear :D - in blister packs :x .

There are few little things in life more annoying that blister packs.

A pox on them. Some blister packs are so hard to open! The best way is often with a box cutter.

I remember when Coles and Woolies first started selling house brand lithium AA batteries. I bought a pack of each to test in the field. Woolies were in a plastic and card pack just like the Energisers. Coles were in a blister pack that took five minutes, a Swiss Army knife and two bandaids to open.
Stuck with the Woolies ones ever since.

Oi, I didn't say nuclear warhead. LOL! Bandaids are not useful for opening blister packs. You may put a bandaid on a blister, not a blister pack. The confusion is understandable; I too once thought this way. Now that I'm on the Path to Enlightenment and Mt Bogong I know better. Further south, Mt Wellington is conveniently close to Hobart, and one can drive up the Path TE.

Unmapped, unmarked tracks that start and end in the middle of nowhere.
What's the point? To frustrate the poor not-in-the-secret-handshake-club walkers who have heard there's a cut track from here to there but haven't a hope of finding it because there's no way of knowing exactly where the thing begins or what line it takes and when the scrub's that thick you could be one step away and not know it . . . ? :x

Wet toilet paper.
Not being able to find a rock to roll when the ground is like concrete.
Logging roads or fire trails used as part of a walk for far longer than they should be.
Being forgotten by you pre arranged paid pickup after a 16 day walk. No food, and no idea which logging road to follow.

Finding the remains of campfires where they shouldn't be like a fuel stove only area or during bushfire season.
Finding other people's rubbish.
The way my partner seems to float effortlessly across mud without getting a speck on him while I am left wallowing trying to make sure I don't leave my boots behind.

I *&%$#! and moan anytime I see tissues or toilet paper in the bush. And don't get me started on unburied poo. Stepped in some once in the middle of a campground on the blue mountains. $#@! Anytime my female friends invite themselves to walk with me they get presented with a sandwich bag 'in case they forgot to bring along one themselves" for their rubbish. Totally passive aggressive of me but totally don't care.

I once spoke to a ranger in FNQ who said she used the 'TP coefficient' to determine where to put new toilets.
'TP coefficient' ? - number of discarded tissue/toilet papers per unit area....

I hate that to. Seriously - how hard???

I normally love the smell when I'm out in the bush but there is one plant I HATE the smell of. Stinkwood (Zieria arborescens). It never used to worry me but lately it has actually made me feel sick when ever I smell it.
Sometimes, I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

My two cents worth...
I am a female and when I'm out hiking and I gotta go, I always take my used wipes/TP home with me.
Solid doo gets buried as best as I can in a cat hole off-track given the ground conditions, and then the wiper/TP is quickly and hygienically bagged in a freezer bag in my pocket which is specifically for "that" and then it gets chucked into the wheelie bin or burnt.
It is the same as picking up after your dog, come prepared and don't leave anything behind-there you go, that's my opinion on this.
Women who just wipe and toss are bush buggers or germs in my eyes as well.

Driving for hours to get to that special remote walking location and then
a) being unable to find the 4wd track that is the start of your walk, not that it matters because
b) your *&%$#! arthritic knee is playing up so much you can't carry a full pack for more than a couple of hours a day anyway.

Finding out during a trip that there's something that really pisses you off when you're out on a walking trip and then not being able to remember what it is when you get back home and want to whinge about it. But whatever it was, it really annoyed me at the time.

Thanks MrsGypsy
My GF manages to pee in the bush without paper.
I may have to question her about it in detail...
Maybe it's just an upbringing trope more than an actual necessity?
Nice girls wipe?
(and then leave behind and walk away...)

More research is needed :P

cheers

People who get out their phones/car stereo/whatever in an otherwise peaceful campsite, and start 'playin' their jam'.

I don't care if you think it's atmospheric or "not that loud". It ends up in everyone else's ears, including wildlife, and all the people have come a long way to specifically enjoy some time without this weeks pop hits.

Expect something to be said.

Walking for days in beautiful weather to get the chance to climb a hard-to-reach peak - and the weather goes off on summitting day, and stays bad until you're well on your way back out. :x

That's interesting Travis and I can see the reasoning, road rules are different though. One lane bridges on steep descents make the uphill traveler give way for the opposite reason. Much easier for a vehicle going up hill to stop than the one going down hill.

Tramonbloodytane. Should have gone via Manfred rather than High Dome, but I wanted to explore the Amphitheatre properly - that didn't happen either, of course.
